The 30-day Improve Your English  Challenge

We don’t know about you, but at this time of year we’re always ready for new challenges. Maybe it’s that unescapable back-to-school feeling we get in September of new possibilities and opportunities. For that reason, we’d like to share this video from Tedtalks. I’ve heard various theories on the length of time it takes to really form a habit. What do you think? Do you think 30 days is long enough? Have any of you tried this method to gain a good habit? How do you think we could use this in our language learning?

What can you do to improve your English in 30 days?

  • LISTEN to something or watch a video in English every day. It doesn’t have to be that long.  You  just need to expose your ear every day. HERE is a resource list of listening materials.
  • WRITE something in English every day. It could be an email to a friend, request  information from a company, comment on a blog post, or write your to-do list for  the week in English.
  • READ a book, a blog post, or an article. Keep track of the new vocabulary you find and review it.
  • SPEAK  to someone or even talk to yourself! This is the most difficult skill to practice if you are not living in an English-speaking country, are not studying with a teacher  or don’t have access to native speakers.  But why  not get together with friends who are also trying to improve and chat in English?  You can also find a language exchange in your area. I don’t know about you, but I love singing along to my favourite songs.

So what are you going to do in the 30-day Improve Your English Challenge? Please post your answers below!
